Music Monday: Happy World Music Day!

Heyo peeps!! Happy World Music Day or Fête de la Musique!! Also welcome to my first Music Monday post! Wow, two things in one post, how exciting lol.

So…let’s start with what Music Monday is. Music Monday was started by Drew at The Tattooed Book Geek. It’s basically sharing one of your favorite song and it’s lyrics every Monday, and it’s open to anyone to do!

Today’s Music Monday is a bit special though as it is also World Music Day, originally known as Fête de la Musique. It takes place every June 21st and began in France, but has now spread across the world! It encourages people to share their favorite music and play music in public places.

I was inspired and also educated by Pavithra’s post for it, before today I had no idea there was a world music day. It’s kind of funny though, my timezone is a bit behind a lot of other people’s so as I’m writing this it isn’t June 21st yet and when I post this on my June 21st it might be over for a lot of people. Anyway, before I got slightly off track, I was saying this post was a special Music Monday, that’s because I’m sharing a whole playlist and not just one song!

✨ My Playlist ✨

  • At My Worst – Pink Sweat$
  • Hopelessly – Reinaeiry
  • Grace Kelly – MIKA

  • Wish for You – Kang In Soo and Lee Sang
  • Never Loved This Way Before – CHEEZE
    • This song is used in one of my favorite webtoons, Odd Girl Out (it’s so cute, wholesome, and relatable)
  • After School – Weekly

  • On Ne Vit Qu’Une Fois – Sidoine
  • The Wall Between Us (Ce mur qui nous sépare) – Lou & Lenni-Kim
  • Près des étoiles – Mickaël Pouvin Ft. Jérôme Clerville

Most of these songs are from my On Repeat playlist on Spotify! I update it quite frequently, feel free to check it out.

I often find my favorite songs by just letting Spotify play or by listening to youtube playlists that people make. Finding songs is one of my favorite past times ^-^

Recently though I’ve been play the Wish You’s OSTs on repeat. I recently watched the drama, it’s listed as a movie though on Netflix I believe. It was really good, very wholesome and I loved the music. Highly recommend watching it or listening to the songs!

Until we meet again…share your favorite songs with someone and dance around, it’s fun I promise!

Happy World Music Day! 🎶

Tagging Stories with Color: Webtoon and Music

Heyo peeps…this has been sitting in my drafts waiting to be finished for a while now, but school sucks so I wasn’t able to finish it until now. Anyway, thank you to Annie from evening tea musings for tagging me in this challenge! I’m so excited so let’s just dive right in.

#1 Share your favorite stories—movies/books/anime/manga/drama/songs—by classifying them on these seven colors’ traits:

  • red: passionate, exciting, invigorating
  • blue: peaceful, calming
  • pink: romantic, caring
  • orange: warm, motivating
  • black: mysterious, thrilling
  • green: fresh, unexpected
  • white: random

#2 Send this challenge invitation to at least one of your friends. Let them fear your superiority, as you—decide their fate.

#3 Link back to the original post here! And, enjoy!

Note: It’s always recommended for you to thank (or link back to) the people who nominated you, but if you think there’s already an unbreakable bond between you and the challengers, then feel free to drop the courtesy.

Word of caution I struggled with categorizing and explaining a lot of these.

For red I decided to focus on the word ✨passionate✨ as I wasn’t sure what could be considered more invigorating than being inspired by another person’s passion. While reading both Gourmet Hound and Annarasumanara I was inspired by their love for cooking and magic respectively.

Gourmet Hound” (by Leehama) tells the story of Lucy and the ex-chefs of her favorite restaurant, Diamche. It all starts off when the kitchen staff changes and the cooking that Lucy used to love disappears. She then sets out on the journey to rediscover that “perfect taste.”

Her journey is full of her own passion for food and the passion of the chefs’ that surround her. As the reader you receive a sample of the passion a person feels when they love what they do. It’s a lovely story that I highly recommend.

Do you believe in magic? That’s the question that is most prominent in “Annarasumanara” (by Ilkwon Ha). It follows the story of Yun Ah-ee, the magician (L), and Na Il-Dung. Ah-ee rediscovers her belief in magic when she meets L. L shares his passion for magic with her and gives magic back to her. The story often refers to being trapped on an asphalt road of expectations, but with their passion for magic they are able to break free from others expectations.

Really this story tells the readers to follow their dreams and to make their own paths. As a reader you get to see how having passion in life can be the most important thing. I highly recommend it as it can really change some perspectives.

I really struggled with this category, I just wasn’t sure what was calming or peaceful because I hardly ever listen to mellow music I’d rather drown my thoughts out with rock music. I guess I’m never really relaxed lol.

Don’t Run Away” is an OST for A-Teen, one of my favorite k-dramas from Playlist Global. It’s sung by Motte who’s voice is so calming, it lulls me into a sense of security. The song’s lyrics sing of trusting others and not pushing people away. It’s a really beautiful song that I adore and recommend.

Little Rain” (by Mai) is a new feature to Webtoon and it’s very calming. Not much of the storyline is known yet but it follows unlucky Lisa and her cat Rain who’s a guardian angel with memory loss.

The colors are really mellow tones and the background ambience is everything. In each episode, so far, there’s background music that varies with different weather ambiences and white noises. This has elevated “Little Rain” from it’s time in Discover. I highly recommend it if you need something relaxing to read.

I absolutely adore “#muted” (by kandismon) with Jasper and Kai. It starts with Jasper meeting Kai, a boy who doesn’t speak. As they face the trials and tribulations of a relationship Jasper does his best to support Kai. Their story is a lovely but realistic romance with ups and downs but still full of caring. It melts my heart and the art style is beautiful. Highly recommend!

It can be found in the Discover/Canvas section of Webtoon.

You & Me (Thanks AROHA)” comes from ASTRO’s special album Winter Dream. It’s one of the songs I put on when I feel down and need to smile. It just makes me feel so cared for and appreciated.

It’s an upbeat song that’s dedicated to AROHA, ASTRO’s fans. The lyrics talk about how happy their fans make them and recollecting upon fond memories. It also thanks their fans for supporting them and how in the future they hope to make us smile.

Crumbs” (by Whithering) takes place in a world where magic is the norm and getting a slice of romance isn’t too hard. The story follows a young seer named Ray and with her order of hot tea and a slice of romance, we meet Laurie, a familiar face at the bakery Ray loves. Love is in the air as Ray and Laurie learn how to balance a relationship and their dreams.

I absolutely love this webtoon, it just gives such a warm feeling. Ray and Laurie’s relationship offers the wholesomeness of having a crush and the warmth that comes with a caring partner. They motivate each other to follow their dreams and support decisions made even when they don’t totally agree. It’s just so cute and I just love the idea of magic being normalized. I totally recommend reading it!

Seventeen’s song “My My” from their mini album Heng:garæ tells us that everything’s okay. It’s motivating and comforting all at once. It ensures listeners that it’s okay to move at their own pace and that where they are in life is just fine. While also encouraging listeners to reach for their dreams and to make their own path in life.

A few of my favorite lines are:

  • “Nothing’s set in stone”
  • “No need to rush, you’re doing fine”
  • “Just stay as you are”

Purple Hyacinth” (by Ephemerys / Sophism) is a thrilling mystery that follows Lauren, a police officer who can detect lies, as she teams up with Kieran, a deadly assassin, to bring down a notorious crime organization that connects a to a gruesome event that haunts Lauren’s past.

The twists, turns, and constant danger of this webtoon keeps readers on their toes. Cliffhangers are deadly and keep you wanting more. The art is also really lovely, with striking color. I would definitely recommend it!

I was really conflicted when deciding where to put this song, I almost put it into the green category. I think that the concept is just so cool, but I ultimately decided that it belonged here because of it’s mysterious tones and background story.

DONGKIZ’s song “LUPIN” is upbeat and smooth, heavily referencing the gentleman thief, Arsène Lupin. With the Netflix series “Lupin” (Totally recommend watching, in the original French w/subs, of course) I’ve fallen even more in love with this song. The choreo is also so cool, I’ve watched the dance versions so many times because I just couldn’t get my mind around the magic acts they incorporated into it! O.o I definitely recommend watching it, even if only to see how smoothly they did the moves that involved the magic acts.

This category was rather hard for me to find a song for so I only have a webtoon. :/

Blades of Furry” (by Deya Muniz / Emily Erdos) is a webtoon I never knew I needed. The story heavily involves the sport of Skate Battles, a mix of figure skating and martial arts. We follow up-and-coming skater Emile and his relationship with the famous senior skater Radu. In a match between the two, Emile discovers a secret that could ruin Radu. Which sends the two spiraling into cahoots and love?

Though fairly new with only 26 episodes, I adore Emile and Radu. The plot and universe it lives in is so unique and refreshing! I also find the idea of Skate Battles so interesting, it’d be so cool to watch irl. 10/10 would recommend!

I just really love these webtoons, they are HILARIOUS. Both can be found in the canvas section, previously known as discover.

Here’s The SHITuation” (by Daica.) is the story of 4 amazing friends, adorable ships, and their shenanigans. We follow Robyn, a fangirl for dramas and their clichés, as she tries to get her best friend Irene, a cat lover, together with Edison, a shy cat owner. Ian, a romance skeptic, and Edison’s best friend comes along for the ride. Who knows what will happen next?

Humor Me” (by Marvin.W) follows Charlie as she just tries to get through high school and life while taking care of her younger brother. It doesn’t help that her school does allow jobs, everyone thinks she’s a guy (though maybe that’s a positive?), and famous James Hardford thinks she’s stalking him.

It has been a journey finishing up this blog post. I’ve had loads of fun but gosh it has taken me forever to finish it and I’m so sorry for that. I blame my tardiness mostly on school, I started writing this during my spring break and now it’s been summer break for a few weeks now. >~< I hope you guys enjoyed it though, I loved recommending my favorite webtoons and hope that maybe some of them struck an interest. Also if I tagged you, I hope you have fun completing this tag!!

Thank you again to Annie for tagging me!!

Until we meet again…stay safe ❤

Omg so I’m awake at 11 pm at night and Seventeen just came back and released their new music video. I wanted to write what I thought about it right now, but my thoughts are a mess and not organized. And I can’t think, I just rewatched it like 3 times because I kept getting distracted. And OMG it is so good. I will post my official thoughts tomorrow when I can actually type properly and not stubble over my keys.

CLC Comeback : Devil

Did I find a new group to love, from my youtube recommendations? Heck Yeah! So I was scrolling through my recommended videos on my youtube and stumbled onto this amazing group. Their songs are so good and I absolutely love their music! I can’t believe that I have never listened to them before. If you don’t know who they are, CLC is a seven member girl group, under cube entertainment that debuted in 2015. Can you believe it, they have been a group since 2015 and people have yet to fully appreciate them! Anyway back to the main topic, their most recent comeback, Devil.

Okay, so let’s talk about those vocals. Their singing is so smooth but powerful and I just love the sound. I don’t know the technical term for it but when Elkie sings “I tried to be so polite.” It sounded so good, I picked up that a lot of them use this technique or put emphasis on certain parts this same way and it just sounds amazing. OMG, and the rap, that was so well articulated. I just don’t know all the technical terms and can’t express what I’m thinking, it’s just slightly frustrating.

I really like the instrumentals in the background. I’m not an amazing musician so I can’t tell what instrument is exactly in the background, but the mix sounds good. I think that the beat matches with the song very nicely. I liked the strumming in the background in the beginning and throughout the song. I think that starting off with the strumming seperated in the beginning was a smart move and then when the other sounds jump in it mixes well. I really liked the drop at 1:50 in the song, I think it had a good, pregnant pause affect. I also like the clapping or snares, or maybe it’s a tambourine in the background, it might be all of them. I’m not quite sure. Now, onto the music video….

I love their denim looks in this video. Okay, so maybe I don’t like a lot of denim personally but they pull it off well, since they’re, well you know Kpop idols. I love how the music video switches between colorful, denim, and the dark look. My favorite looks in this music video is probably Elkie, her hair is so pretty and honestly she’s really pretty. They are all super pretty, but Elkie honestly caught my eye first. Their acting in this music video was also very interesting. The short pops of surprise from the victim when something bad happen and the one who caused it giving a small shrug of discare. It really added to the music video. I also liked when they did the dark background and only one person was in the spotlight as they sung.

They haven’t released a dance practice video yet, at least that I know of, but from the video the choreography looks pretty interesting. I haven’t seen much of their dancing style yet but the choreography seems to follow the basic girl group choreography. With the hand snapping and switching between hands, I’m not sure how to describe it but you understand what I am saying. There are certain parts where it does look a bit intense but the girls pull it off very well.

Well that’s all I have for now, so please go and support CLC by watching the music video and voting for them on Starplay.

So until we meet again..

Seventeen Comeback: HIT

I’m so late, it irks me. This is my ultimate group and I am late posting me raving about their newest song release. You should know how it goes, I rave about how much I love it and then tell you to go support them. However since this is my ultimate group, I’m going to put in a little more than my opinion.

This comeback came at us so hard, but I absolutely love this song. They did so well on it and it is simply amazing. I am so happy that they made a comeback, I was waiting for a comeback since their last one. It’s really upbeat and it is so catchy. I could listen to it on repeat, but that wouldn’t get it views. The teasers got me really hyped for the song so when it came out and I didn’t get the notification right away, I was suprised and late.

I think that this song showcases a lot of members vocals that we don’t normally hear a lot of. This also meant that DK, Seungkwan and Woozi took a big step back from the song. I have to admit, I was kind of sad that Woozi didn’t have more parts. However, you do hear him a lot in the background. Jeonghan, Joshua, Mingyu and Jun had a lot of lines in this comeback. Using the line distribution video that I am looking at they had the most parts. Even though it seems that a lot of people didn’t contribute vocally, they did dance making it more even.

The8 had the least amount of lines. This is also kind of sad because his vocals are amazing. However going back to the balancing out, he has a dance break for himself. Similar to The8 the members who didn’t have a lot of vocal parts, danced in the front during the music video or had parts focused on dancing. I think that everyone had somewhat balanced parts and screen time during the music video. No matter what I still love the song and Seventeen.

Please love and support Seventeen by streaming the music video. And that’s all I have for now, I have to go memorize the fan chant.

Day6 Comeback: Time of Our Lives

Any MyDays out there?! It’s okay if you aren’t however I would encourage you to go and support Day6 and their recent comeback.

I’m not sure how to express my feelings on the song in more detail but I know that I absolutely love it! I know that a lot of people are saying that it sounds like an anime OST and I think I’m starting to agree. I am now only on my second listen to the song and I can definitely hear the animeness of it. I truly believe the statement that Day6 has no bad song.

Day6 deserves all our love and support. They deserve to be recognized, as they are seriously underrated. I hope that we all will show them how much we love and support them. They deserve this win! Go stream the music video. Day6, fighting!

GFriend Comeback: Fever

Just watched the fever mv as soon as it came out at 11: 02 pm, Sunday 30th of June. And I have to say I am loving it. Okay so I don’t stan GFriend but I love a lot of their songs, especially the old ones. Not only are their songs great but their choreography is amazing, it’s so simple yet complex. The new song is so catchy and upbeat yet edgier then a lot of their other songs and have I mentioned the amazing choreo, it is on point. The mv is also very well filmed. I love the take on it and the backgrounds and camera shots. This is an amazing comeback and I wish GFriend the best of luck during their promotions. Go support them by listening to the song.

English?! 뭐?!

Omg, I found this amazing song and I absolutely love it! I can not gush more about it. It’s so cute and innocent. I live the lyrics, the singer’s voice and the beat. It’s my new favorite song and guess what, it’s in English. Which is a weird thought because I have been listening to mainly k-pop(Seventeen) or k-rock (DAY6). So anyway it’s called “would you be so kind” it’s by dodie. I adore this song and I recommend it to everyone. I also find it interesting to read the comment section on YouTube because it’s so sweet, with lots of people being like “100 likes and I’ll send this to my crush.” Then they do and it’s kind of sad when they get regected but so cute when they say “I sent this to my crush and now we’re dating.” It’s absolutely adorable. I give those people props for sending it to their crushes. I honestly would never do that. Anyway, go listen to the song. I hope you like it.
