High School Relationships

High school relationships
Now that's something
I'd never do

The drama
And clinging
Just makes me want to go,
EWW

Friends disappear
For days at a time
And come running back
When they've got a problem on their mind

The tears and break-ups
That's a normal thing
But seriously in high school
Everyone seems to just want a fling

Now let me tell you
Something I'd never do
Relationships in high school.

I had a lot of fun with this poem. Please don’t get offended if you are in a high school relationship. This is just how I view relationships at my school.

Laughter

Laughter
An easily used mask
A fake detail
Put in place
To hide the pain
That resides inside

Laughter
Easily broken
By thoughts
So harsh
A bitter taste and tears forced forward

Laughter
A bubble of acid
Climbing up my throat
Burning my insides
Coating it with it’s harsh lies

Laughter
Clogging my throat with it’s burning acid
Choking me
Coughing from the sickness that is the laughter

Laughter
How I wish it was carefree
Young carefree laughter that doesn’t burn
The kind of laughs that are infectious
Laughter that fills rooms and warms hearts
Not the laughter that causes me to choke and scream

Pain

Pain is a feeling
That flows through your veins

It is caused by fretting
Over people who couldn’t care less
And the stress
That messes with your head

It is the deep ache inside
That needs to be fixed
But who has the time
To stop and find the rest
That is needed to tape up the whole in my chest

Pain is the feeling
That you get
When you’re broken and hunched over
With all your regrets

It is what lives inside you
And dares you to fix
Knowing that nothing
Will mend your broken bits

Opinionated

To say
I'm not very opinionated
To start with
Is not the truth

I have much to say
But words escape me

My mind goes blank
And I hold my tongue

Assuming things
You fill the blanks
And say
Well you're not very opinionated to begin with

But you've only seen
A part of me

A part that's grown
Or better yet,
Shrunk

As school has taught me
To hold my tongue.

Midnight boredom

Oh so bored
Sitting in silence
The clock ticking
Pen scratching
Paper flapping
My own beating

Thumps
So loud and clear
A pounding
That resonates
Ever so near

Thoughts that collide
At the fastest of speeds

Penned words
Glaring back at me
Underlined and bolded
Ever so carefully

Merging together
Problems and thoughts,
future and past,
hopes and dreams.

Leaving me behind
Bored and bleeding.

Mumbo Jumbo

Mumbo Jumbo
That's my phrase
To describe
What goes on
Up in my brain
Too many thoughts
And projects to name
Personal
Or otherwise publically named
Take deep breaths
And write it out
But wait...
Hold up...
I forgot it all just now.
What a mess.
What to do?
Nothing ever comes out just right.
What about for you?
You see,
When I start to multi-task
Lamas yodle
And start to to ask
And look
There it goes
My mumbo jumbo mind
Trailing off again
And now I've forgotten
The next 5 lines
For now I'll try
To organize
My mumbo jumbo mind.

P.S. Isn’t my little messy brain dude, just so adorable. I drew him myself on the google drawings thingy in drive. I’m kind of proud of it. 😆

Unknown

I don’t get it
Do you?
I don’t know
What’s this feeling
I can’t show

A perfect day
Secrets and jokes
Merely moments ago

In a blink
Im slipping
Falling

Memories
Newly formed
Yet out of reach

Grasping
At blanks
And touching air

Seconds before
Hanging with friends
Now isolated
And lonely

A ditch
I dug
For myself

Thoughts there
With words
Not able to form

No one to talk to
To understand
And no words
To describe

What a ditch
I dug
Huh.

Ice

Moving slow
On the ice
Then gliding and spinning
Flying through the wind
The ice under me
Spinning me faster and faster
Gliding and pivoting
The ice smooth and silky

Hard and rough
The terror as I spin out of control
The ice
Once a friend
Now a fiend
Breaking me from dreaming

Stepping out once again
The dreams vanishing
Gliding back out
Holding my breath
The audience gasping

Letting out the stale breath
The loud gasp filling the air
Stumbling
Falling
Gasping for breath
Grabbing at the air

The dream now broken
Wishing to go back to the ice
The fiend
Once a friend

A friend who broke me
A friend who stabbed me through the back
Nothing holding me there
The ice cold like fire

Burning and hurting me
No matter
The pain pushes me
Back to the ice
Again and again

I wrote this a while ago and I first released it on the poetry amino app. It got featured and people seemed to have liked it so I thought that I would release it here too, since I haven’t posted in a while. Hope you enjoy it.

Friends

What are friends

Are they people that you hang with even when you have doubts

Are they kind, souls who care and find time

To sit, talk and share

~

Are they people who swear that they will forever remember

Or are they just folks that never seem to be there

While you cry and surrender

~

The question is who are your friends

Are they loyal and true

Do they lie and cheat

~

However you see them

Maybe it’s true

But take a look and you’ll find that it might not be that blue

~

For there are always people who love and care

Who will listen and talk through the storms in your lair

~

So take the time

And take heed

Be the friend you want to be

~

But don’t expect to be pleased

With everyone that you meet

~

We all have secrets

And we all have lies

That even our closest friends

Seem to be surprised
